Hey muledeer!

Ya got any cheap property listings in Fernley?

Betcha will soon!

Whoooeee, that was a nasty canal break, huh? That storm is here now and the snow is so heavy my snowblower wouldn't handle it - had to do the drive by hand. Two things wrong with that: I gave blood yesterday and am not supposed to do any heavy lifting or strenuous exercise for a few days (Ha!) and also my former next door neighbor shoveled his drive a few years back, went into the house, sat in his chair and died.

Then a few minutes ago, I got up out of MY chair and got so light-headed I had to sit on the floor FAST to keep from blacking out. Guess the blood tech was right, huh?

Rocky

Just finished shoveling my driveway (almost 3hrs.) We got about a foot last night. The Sierras probably 3-5 feet. More snow is on the way today, tomorrow, and Monday. Don't worry Rocky, we saved some for you I'd go buy a snow blower today but I'll bet everyone is sold out Well it's 1:15 now and in a few hours it will be BEER THIRTY, YES!!!!

Don't you worry, kev. It was just my temporary "quart low" condition; a quart of Gatorade has me all snappy and sassy again.

The storm apparently spent all it had before it got here. We had really strong winds all night, with heavy rain (the temp crept up to 36 due to the south winds) followed by that two inches or so of wet snow. Our drive has since MELTED what I didn't shovel and the sun is shining!

Sheesh!

Nonetheless, they're saying we shouldn't think it's over - it might storm here until Tuesday. When I look at the satellite pictures, it just might. Wave after wave coming off the Pacific.

Glad to see you guys are getting to enjoy the weather, too!

I pulled into Glenn County (town of Willows, CA) on Thursday night to my travel trailer at my Duck Hunting Lease. We got slammed at about 2:45 a.m. Friday. Power out at 6:30 a.m. and I stayed in till 9, then went to my blind. We had periodic sustained winds in excess of 80 mph!!! I can now officially say that I have hunted in a Category 1 Hurricane! I spent the entire day in the hole with Jack dog. The birds were everywhere but shooting is pretty damned tough in those winds. It calmed down to a "mild" 30 mph blow and then the birds started working and I started connecting with my shots. Repeat on Saturday under much quieter conditions then did a layout in the Goose Field for some Specklebelly Geese. Came home last night from what is still considered a "Disaster Area" with limits of birds! Power is still out in the farm area where the trailer is and will be for several more days. Over 100 utility poles were destroyed in Friday's event in Glenn County alone.

Glad to see ya TD

I also shot ducks in the wind like that. A friend and I were hunting an open marsh impoundment in Md in a NorEaster. 70-80 miles an hour. No the ducks didn't toll as they were goingh with the wind. Couldn't have hit a tolling duck except by accident or unless he was coming straight in. Rain was comng sideways when i caught the ol ducky zooming along. DArn bull pintail came by at mach 2 and darned if i didn't whack the poor thing dead as a cucumber. he only fell about 100 yds away...and he wasn't 10 ft off the ground to begin with. we ended up with quite a few ducks and a pair of geese. and a boat with six inches of rain in it. We had to pull it up on a muskrat lodge so we could empty the water out.Glad you made it out of the area ok and that all was as much fun as it sounds. And they say elk hunters are crazy!!?? They ain't never seen a dedicated duck hunter!

We got 20" of snow here today - so far. Hasn't even begun to slack off yet.

So far today, I've towed my wife, my neighbor and the mailman down our street because they haven't been able to plow the neighborhoods yet. When they do, the plow furrows will be three feet deep at the end of every driveway. Oh, nice.

Rocky,
Is that a normal snowfall for ya'll up there in Ogden? I have a friend that has bought several properties up there in Ogden and he made it sound as if snowfall was generally occassional at best in the area. He's been appealing to my desire to buy some out-of-state property there in your town.

We got ourselves a pretty fair bit of snow, too. Started yesterday morning and didn't let up till this morning. They canceled all flying and shut down the base around 3pm and had us come in an hour late this morning. Not as much snow as others but it was quite a lot for Mtn Home. When we left for Arizona the Friday before New Years (I went down to see my kids) we had snow from the time we left town till just after Tremonton, Ut. Should've been able to make the drive in about 15 hours but the snow stretched it to 18 Like I said, we didn't get as much snow as a lot of other places but we got quite a bit for our neck of the woods.

We don't normally get that much in one day. That storm just camped over us instead of moving off. A six-inch snowfall is more the average - but there are just enough real dumpers that you want a powerful snow blower in your garage! One year we got something like six feet of it in three days - the piles at the end of my drive were so tall, the blower couldn't get any more to the top of them!

The plows finally got down our street last night about 8, leaving a 3-foot drift across every driveway. Had to get up this morning and run the blower for a half hour to get a slot JUST wide enough for my wife to get to work. Have to finish it after my oatmeal.

Oh joy. They predict another storm this afternoon and evening.

BUT, we are still in a drought, and if it doesn't snow, we don't drink the next summer. We get 100% of our water from snow in Utah - and that's the truth. So this is good. Really. Keep saying that to yourself, Rocky.

This pretty much says most of the story...

But if not, here's my back yard. Note the buildup on my neighbor's eaves. That roof was bare when it started!

Oh, by the way, in that second shot of my backyard? There's a car in the driveway. Really.
