My half-faced Camp.
Being a fan of the French and Indian War and since some of it occured here on my farm, I decided to build a half-faced camp in my 10-acre West Woods. Some folks herabouts call it my half-a%*ed camp.
Not to be deterred, my loyal Hund, Lori Dawg, and I went afield today in the lovely 66 degree weather. With tomahawk and baler twine, we had a nice camp ready by sundown. A check of a nearby trail camera disclosed 74 pictures of turkey, deer and a big bear. Well, rain is forecast for tonight with clear weather tomorrow. I will have my .54 flinter and old Dawg for company tomorrow night as we camp out in the shelter by the campfire. Life in the country has its advantages. Indian Summer is another plus this time of year. Adam

Guys,
I will try to get the lend of a digital camera and post a picture in the near future. I like to loaf in the woods and the campsite is on a nice wooded bench just above a spring. I imagine Lewis & Clark erected similiar shelters. Adam

Hello Guys,
It is now the February "THAW" in Northcentral PA and the wife got a digital camera for Christmas. NO, I am not yet DIGITAL LITERATE SO NO PICTURES OF MY CAMP, YET. We have 6 inches of snow on the ground and lots of blowdowns to contend with. I will go afield this week, with loyal hound, Lori, and assess the camp's condition. We will make needed repairs and Mary Lou will take digital photos. Over this L o n g Winter, I read the Journals of Lewis & Clark, again. I suspect my half-faced camp is similiar to their encampments. Stay tuned for pictures. Adam

Dan,
My half-faced camp needs major infrastructure repairs! With the cold snap last week we had wind gusts of 50 mph. A dead cherry tree and two or three ash trees blew over blocking the road to the camp and a few other trees fell on my camp. Since I can use the firewood, I need to chain saw up the trees and then rebuild the camp. While sawing, I can custom cut a few nice ridge poles for a better end product. Adam
