A .41 Magnum Ruger SA for CCW?

I have a nice .41M Ruger that I carry all the time here on the farm. I have cast 210 grain SWCs and have worked up some accuracy loads with 2400 powder. I like to use a weak side holster in cross draw configuration in my walks afield. I am waiting for Fall and Winter so I can carry this piece under a sleeveless vest or jacket CCW.

How many other folks carry a Single Action for CCW? It just seems like a great idea as far as I can see.

Adam

I usually carry a .45LC Blackhawk camping or in the field but my CCW is a DA S&W M66 .357 Mag. Easy maintenance, no thinking required if it is needed - just point and pull the trigger.

I really like my 41 Blackhawk, but for ccw I find it to large. I have a Ruger SP101 in 357 with the shortest barrel, and that's really to large to hide in summer clothing.
A little NAA 22 or a Kel-Tec 380, or gun of that size is better suited for that kind of dress, winter clothing can hide much better.

700LH,

Welcome to this Forum; I see this is just your 4th post.

I agree, Winter clothes hide a lot of hardware.

Again, welcome to this site.

I`ve got a friend that carries a .41, but it`s a DA. Personally I like the .44 mag. I have a PD 329 that is real nice. Not much larger than a .41, but it weights about as much as a .39 SP. Not a gun for whimps though.

If I was as good as Wyatt Earp or Wild Bill, I might carry a single action for CCW......but since I'm not, I'll stick to a double action or 1911

I often carry a Ruger Bisley Vaquero in either .45 Colt or .44 Magnum as a CCW gun.
I use leather from Bob Mernickle, his PS6 holster.
I shoot the SA revolver well, they are extremely accurate, and the .45 Colt or .44 Mag, both using LSWC bullets, are deadly.

8x56MS,

I like SA handguns. There is no safety to deal with nor decocking levers, etc., just cock and shoot like we did with our cap pistols in days of yore. The early training did transfer to today.

A single action is of course, slower to load, but it is NOT slower to bring into play, or shoot.
Its all about practice.............
