.243's in Greedy Oklahoma

Here in my beloved Sooner State, I am having a dickens of a time finding a decent used .243 they go fast here , and get kina expensive for used.

I even 'outsourced' my search to friends in areas where people actually find bargains. (You know who you are!)

Here near McAlester they get top dollar for used rifles, especially .243's One of the two pawn shops (in a 30 mile radius) got $250 (+ tax) for a used Stevens 200, when for $295 (+tax) he could have gotten a new one. To be honest the used one wasn't very well taken care of.

Man oh man does poverty suck!

I want......er.....ah.....NEED a 243.............just because?

243s

Jon They sell good out here in Wyoming too. Every 243 I get is sold in short order. I just got another Rem 760 pump in 243 the other day. It'll be gone real quick. Another caliber that goes fast..at least here... is the 257 Roberts. I just bought another 722 in that caliber the other day and it is GONE. I have 2 others and intend to keep both of them. One is a 257 AI though. For some odd reason 30-06s and even 270s kinda hang around

Hey Jon, there is a super nice .243 h&r in a pawn shop in sand springs, just west of tulsa. Super nice with the choate pistol grip buttstock and the forend has a slot in the bottom for a bipod. Also has the 24 inch fluted barrel with a target crown and it has a scope on it. I believe the guy is asking 330 or 340 bucks for it. If your interested let me know and i will let you know what pawnshop.

Hey Cowboy,

Thanks, but I am looking for a standard 'carry' type rifle, I don't varmint hunt. But I thank you for the tip.

And if I was not scrimping for my move at the end of August (out of pocket until reimbursement 4 to 6 weeks) I would jump on this 100%, varmint or not that's a good price!

I would love to have it myself, but i have other things going right now. I just picked up a revolver that is in serious need of help, so until this thing is in proper working order not much i can do. It is a extremely sharp gun though. I hope you find what you are looking for. Later
