???? about Mossberg ATR rifle
I was killing some time at Walmart and ran across a new rifle from Mossberg. It's called the ATR. These brand new rifles that show up intrigue me.If any of you have any experience with this gun... let me know. It's nothing much to look at and it is REAL inexpensive. I'm just curious as to how it shoots ect...
Thanks

Rifle was previously available under the logo of Raptor Arms Co. Very plain quality always not the best. Hopefully Mossberg will improve them.

I have never seen a Mossberg rifle that shot badly. I haven't had handson experience with many of them but all I've seen shot at or above average for comparitive models.

Actually, Mossberg is building the rifle at its own factory and using the old Howa action. Mossberg makes the barrel, stock and everything else on the gun. It looks exactly like the Charter 2000 Field King. I talked to the Mossber rep and they said it is not the old Charter or Raptor rifle. Biscuit

Update on Mossberg ATR 100.
This gun is great! I bought a 30-06 and mounted a Sightron scope on it. Today at the range the Mossberg ATR 100 impressed me as much as anything that I ever shot. First of all the Howa action is smooth, the stock feels great, and the trigger is light and crisp. The barrel is floated and the gun shoots 1" groups. If you take away the .30 inches from the round width that makes it sub-MOA. $244.00 makes this the best rifle for the dollar out there. IMO........Biscuit

I bought one last year in '06. I like the balance and action, both superb. I found the trigger and grouping a little rough, but they improved with time. It was kinda like breaking in a 1911 pistol, needed some oil and rounds to break it in. I don't shoot MOA with it, but it's more and enough for what I bought it for, HUNTING. The stock and finish are tough and I find myself treating it like an AR15 in the bush. The gun has held up well and shoots well. I actually got rid of my treasured 336 30/30 because the Mossberg handles nice and I don't worry about beating up the finish and stock in the thick stuff.
