Calibers you've owned, and those you still have???

Thought it would be interesting to see what calibers you guys have went through in your lifetime and exactly which ones you still own.
The first rifle I bought was a .243 for deer. Sold it for a .270. Next, bought a .22-250 for coyotes, and then added a .25-06 to the arsenal. Sold the .270 and bought a 7mmSTW. Sold the .22-250 to put together a custom .243. Finally, just sold the STW to put together a custom .280.
My gun case now holds the .243, the .25-06 and the .280 is on the way. Its funny how things can come full circle isn't it.

Personally I own a .22rf(2), .270win, and a 12 gauge.

They are all of various makes

The rest of the guns in the cabnet are my dads. They are a .17rem, .22-250, .243win and 7mm rem mag

all his are Sakos and sport Leupold glass.

The .17rem is by far one of the most beautiful and sweetest handling rifles i've held. it's around 6lbs. and balances perfectly.

Over the years I've purchased and kept a .17 Rem.(700BDL), .222Rem (Rem. 40XBBR), .222Rem. (Sako), .222Rem.Mag (Sako/Hart), .22-250 (Savage/Hart), .243Win. (Savage 110), 6mm Rem. (Rem VLS), 6.5x55 (3) (M96 Swedish Mausaers), 6.5x55 (Remington Classic),
7mm Rem. Mag. (Rem.700BDL), .308Win. (Browning Micro Medallion), .303SMLE (Mark1, No.4), 8x57 (German Mauser M98).

I've purchased, then sold a .22rimfire (Remington Apache Black), 22Mag. (Marlin Model 57), .308Win. (Savage 99).

I don't plan on ever selling another one. I'll leave them to my son when I pass on. A man should never sell a firearm. I still miss the ones I sold 30 years ago. Best wishes.

There are darn few guns that I've gotten that I haven't kept. I sold a Browning semi-auto 22 pistol to a son in law that I'm very fond of. I found that I generally like revolvers better.

I also gave away a Yugo SKS... tooooo ugly, and 5" groups at 100.

My first centefire rifle was a Browning bolt 223. Outstanding gun.

My next was a Browning 30-06 with BOSS. It's still for sale. The barrel is 2" shorter than they advertise, and the muzzle blast is impressive... might blow an elk over. Shot the muzzle brake version of the BOSS exactly once (Rocky tried to tell me....).

From there, I acquired a Swedish M96, which is about as fine a gun as I own. Then, on to a couple of Finnish M39's (one's for sale) which are best described as "sturdy", and also quite accurate, a Russian SKS (the adult Ruger 10/22), a custom 30-06 on a Mauser action (my basic "big gun"), a custom 6.5x55, and a 243. The present project is a 7x57. Oh, and there's a thoroughly worked over Yugo 8x57 in there, too. Not a bad little gun.

I think the only rifle I own that isn't also a military round is the 243. don't know why it worked out that way.

Handguns... .22 Single Six, .41 Mag Redhawk, 9x18 Makarov (simple, accurate, cheap). Dad gave me a military Hi Standard once. When we found out how rare they are, we had to undo that.

My first rifle was a semi-auto Glenfild .22lr, then a 12gaWin 1300), when my gramps died I enhereted his .30-30(94 Win). I then bought a .30-06(Remington 700) wich I traded for a 6.5x55mm(Ruger M77). Then a 7.62x39(A.K.47), a .22mag(Ruger VMBZ), a .223( N.E.F), a .22-250(Savage), another .22(Ruger 10/22), and a .50cal smokepole(Black Dimond).

The .22-250, and trhe A.K.47 was sold&traded to get my handguns. .17HMR, .30-30, .45/.410 (TC Contender), .22lr(Ruger Standard) wich I enherited from my dad, .380(Walther clone), 9mm(Glock 19), .357(Ruger GP100).

So I Got rid of 2 rifles, traded one.

Hmmmm...I'll have to think hard about this!

.17HMR
.22 (traded off a Charter Arms AR-7 piece of crap 25 years ago!)
.223Rem
.22-250
6mm Rem
.257 Robts. (traded off Browning BLR but looking for a Bolt Action to replace it.)
7mm Rem Mag (traded off Rem 700 BDL)
7mm STW
.30-30 Win (traded off 1894 Trapper)
.30-'06
.300 Win Mag
.450 Marlin

These are all rifle calibers of which in a few instances I have several rifles in the same chambering. Only 4 of those above went away.

.22
.380ACP
9mm Para (traded a CZ75B)
.40 S&W
.44 Rem Mag
.45ACP (traded a clunky Ruger P90)

These are all handguns of which I have many of each caliber. Only those listed as traded are guns of which I have parted ways.

i just love guns - i think they are such a great hobby/tool/playtoy/great to collect/pretty to look at/ wife would disagree - this thread made me think back- i truly believe i have only sold or traded 3 guns in my whole life - and that was because i didnt like them for whatever reason- my passion since i dont hunt like i used to is just target shooting but i dont have not one gun that i wouldnt climb into a john boat and float the river with even though i hate dents - too many shotguns to talk about so rifles range from 17hmr, 204, 220 swift, many 22's, 22-250, 223, 243, 270, 30.06, and thats as big as my shoulder will stand-the small caliber stuff is my favorite- and i am always looking to buy a "real" target gun - one that i would like to give a shot is a 222 never ran across one for sale that looked pleasing- guess that is an old caliber that so many new ones grew from - out of the bunch my favorite would have to be the 17hmr they are great even though i dont have to load them but they are pretty cheap then comes the 220swift and the 243 - just hard to beat in my book even though i havent got a great load worked up yet but its coming i hope -and this new 204 well i just dont know what to think about it but time will tell
