Take an exchange student fishing!
We have had an exchange student from Japan for the last week. I took her fishing here in the Pacific Northwest and had a great tim. She and her friends were good luck. We got dog fish (mud shark), rockfish and chinook salmon.

Those exchange students probably had an experiance that few of the others in the program had. Were they part of the LABO exchange program?
Many years ago we had a Labo exchange student one summer. I am sure that none of the others in that bunch had the exeriances he did. Trapping conventions, fishing and visiting a taxidermist. Ours was just short of 12 years old when he was here. The only english he knew was "TOILET". I doubt that any others went home with a box of taned fur. I wonder what customs would have said if they new there was wolf fur in the box. |

My student had to endure my lessons in huntable creatures, my taxidermy, antler and skull collection. She liked the bear, but was not visibly impressed with the wolf. She seemed attentive and interested for a city girl in designer clothes.

Here is a picture of a small mud shark. The kids were thrilled to catch these.

This blacktail buck came into the yard for a photo op. I don't think the student had ever seen a wild animal of any description before this.
