Refugee War zones
My guy got a call from his 18 year old grandson today..He is in Baton Rouge with his younger siblings as most of the schools are not up and running in Metarie Louisiana where they lived prior to the storm...His father is a retired Police Captain from there.
The kid was leaving a store and was stopped at a light and a black kid came up along his car (window was down) the perp smacked him as hard as he could with a baseball bat on the left side of his face. It stunned him and the perp tried to pull him out of his car. Vincent grabbed a 38 that was in the console as another perp was coming around the other side of the car. He put it in the perps face and he ran..he aimed at the other guy who was trying to gain entry to the car on the other side saw the gun and he ran also...Vincent didnt fire...he said that most of the immediate outlying cities from New Orleans are war zones...no one goes anywhere without a weapon....He said in some areas its complete chaos in the streets....and no one is safe...

Aren't these "perps" the same young men who should be helping the old, women, and children and the community--THER COMMUNITY-- recover from this mess? I ain't asking, I'm just asking...

I believe that I would have emptied the revolver.
Not saying that is necessarily the best thing to do, but I believe I would have fired. Whacking someone with a bat is assault with a deadly weapon. |

I've read several posts (Elsewhere) about just how bad it is/still is down there.
I might have done the same thing(Fired at the perps). A person has to defend themselves! Tall Shadow |

Legalities and aftermath effects for the shooter aside, I've always said that a few perps reduced to room temperature would go farther towards crime prevention than almost anything else I can think of.
Make 'em think not twice but thrice about attacking someone and maybe they'll not try at all.

My Animal Control/Rescue folks that I knew that were down there carried firearms and they said it was a mess.
It will take some time to get a handle on things and in the mean time the citizens pay the price.

I had to stop in Baton Rouge to get my orders from FEMA at the Field Office there and made a wrong turn. Since I was on gov't travel I did not have the luxury of having my gun with me, but I immediately reached for and made my knife ready. Took several stop signs and a couple red lights to get back out of the bad area but I made it out without incident and made sure the people that were following me (people I was working with in other cars) made it out safely too.
It did look like a war zone. I was there and can attest to that |
