Used shotguns

I spend a good bit of time shopping the used gun racks because the hang tag prices are better than new guns. Today, I found a Remington Model 870 Wingmaster 12 gauge in mint condition for $120.00. It has a factory barrel with Lyman adjustable choke. I prefer the Wingmaster over the Express. Anyone else shop the used gun racks? All the best...

Gil,

You caused reglective thinking on my part about my dozen or so shotguns on establishment: All are/were used when I acquired them. Some I bought used and the rest were gifts or bequests from deceased buddies. Shotguns are very forgiving of limited attention to cleaning. All of mine fare better once they come into my ownership.

You BETCHA!!!! I found some good deals in the used rack...870 express combo, Steven 311 20 gauge, Remington model 11 in 16 gauge.
The only time I really got 'took' was the Ithica M51 I bought...it had a cracked bolt carrier and I didn't notice it until after I had had the gun for a while...the price for a replacement part is more than the what I paid for the gun! Guess I have a parts gun and a couple of barrels to sell........... too bad, as I really liked the way that gun handled, and it was light enough to carry all day in the uplands.
Last spring I bought a 'pre-owned' 12 gauge 1100.....took a couple of geese with it in the early season; looking forward to duck hunting with it next week.....it's been a joy to shoot on the clay pigeon range.

Used guns

I don't buy too many in gun shops anymore but I buy a bunch here and there from owners. In the last week or so I bought a Walther PP in 380 outside a gun shop for 160 bucks. Looking at a table full of closeouts when he came up with the gun . And I got an 870 express for a 100 bucks the next day. Went to an auction last night and bought a Ruger 77 in 220 swift with a Unertl scope on it in as new condition for a very fair price(scope was worth more than what I paid for the whole thing) a couple of Contender barrels(357 Max with leupold scope(150) and a 32 Mag bbl with a Burris scope(75)) and a Contender frame and carbine stock in exc condition for 150 bucks. I watched an Encore rifle in 7mm-08 sell for 275 bucks. My brain broke or something. My buy of the evening though was a Dillon 1050 loader in 45 acp for 350 bucks. I love auctions. Not long ago I bought 14 guns at one time from a fellow for 400 bucks..3 or 4 single shot H&R guns and a really nice mid 50's 870 A grade in 20 ga skeet. Sold six and got my money back.. Any body need a Remington Model Nylon 77 semi auto 22??? Cheap!!

I love the used gun racks. I much prefer the older guns than the new ones. Some good deals can be had from time to time.

Plenty of used shotguns around

I was in a local gun shop yesterday and there were nice used shotguns all over the place. That included all major brands and types of actions. That is certainly where I would go to find a bargain. All the best...
