new toy to tinker with
Picked these things up at a Gun show, they are plastic 38 caliber cases that have a primer pocket big enough for a LARGE pistol primer, instead of the standard small that a .38 would normally take.
Anyway you prime these little plastic buggers with a large pistol primer and then insert a black plastic cylindrical/flat nose projectile into the top of the case, (much as you would reloading a bullet but you can do all this by hand) The primer fires the lightwieght plastic projectile somewhere in the vacinity of 500 fps, which in turn will go through a layer of cardboard. Recomended shooting setup is indoors at a cardboard box with a piece of carpet hung inside to stop the projectile. I haven't had time to mess with them much but they seem like they will be fun once I get some CCI large pistol Primers. I bought a box of Winchester Primers and they don't alway go off with the first drop of the hammer. The pamphlet that came inside the box of these things says they use CCI with no misfires so that is what I am going to go out and get |

Federals tend to be softer than CCI's..........

Will be fun when I get the CCI primers if they work the way they are supposed to. Will have some fun in the basement with these things, a cardboard box and will be able to let my son do some practicing with the pistol. I can hear it now, Paaayak, thunk, paayak, thunk..... |

Yeah and foam ear plugs fit almost perfectly into a .45 ACP casing........
If the primer pockets are big, the primers can back out some during ignition. Might be an issue on a wheelgun.

Seems like it would be cool for indoor point shooting practice.
Another cute thing it would be good for is irritating the old lady. ![]() ![]() You guys might have it different, but my old lady needs to be annoyed by me at least once a day. If not she will find something stupid to be irritated with, on her own.

I've tried the reduced load stuff, but dry fire practice is just as good.
The reduced stuff doesn't lift the front sight. Seeing the front sight lift in recoil is the first step in fast and accurate follow ups.
