What to take?
Are there any "esential" flies you always have with you? Most of my fly fishing is and will be for trout but I'm thinking that going after bass sounds like fun, too. I live in So. Central Idaho if that helps. I have a few flies and usually just take them all and try to match whatever bugs I can find in, on and around the water but are there any others I should have? As you may have guessed, I'm kinda new at this fly fishing stuff so don't get too technical. Thanks.

Flies
The best fly to use for those wary ol trout is one known by it's latin name of nightus crawlerus...an exact replica of the common to most areas.... night crawler! Slays those big ol brownies..sometimes

Tater, don't overlook terrestrials.
Flies that imitate ants, grasshoppers, caterpillars, grass shrimp, crayfish, etc. They can be your salvation on days when there is no hatch, or you're unable to match the hatch. And streamers, too- minnow imitations are effective in many different places, for many different species.

That's a good start-thanks guys. Actually, I saw those worms in Cabela's and I was wondering how they would work. I think I'll pick up a set.

If you're adding bass to your quarry, I'd personally not be without a couple of poppers that you can twitch on the surface during the warmer summer months. These delights offer that wonderful gurgling and water displacement in submerged cover that bass find irresistable.
