my beater 870

I have a870 express i bought a good number of years ago i bought it as a gun i would be hard on so i have never cared for the looks of it.
It has a cheap hard wood stook i yoused it this pass deer seasen with all the rain the the stock swelled by the pad and i have chose not to replace it or refinish it.
What i did was pull the stock and the forarm off and sanded down the hi spots and sprayed them both flat black.
with the parker finish on the gun it looks half way good my goal was to sand and seal the wood so it wouldnt swell again and if it does i will repeat.
what made me think of this is the duck hunters that spray camo paint there guns and it seemed to last.

Cool Good Idea

I kinda did the same thing. Instead I used Marine Transom paint. It soaks into the wood making it almost like plastic. I then painted it Forest Green and stenciled the letters 14 on the stock in white paint. Why you ask? Because when I go dove hunting evertbody want to know what the number means. I tell them it's a rent gun from a Pawn Shop. Things like that keep me from getting bored. By By.
