Smallmouth Bass on Lake Erie
OK, I know this might be a little isolated for a forum site of this size and universality, but I am going on a fishing trip to Lake Erie out of Conneaut on April 30, 2006, and need some advice on what to use for smallmouth. Lures, colors, presentations, etc. Anyone? Thanks, guys.

Jigs seem to work well, and tube baits or anything resembling a crayfish that can be fished slowly on the bottom. Also crankbaits can be effective. We've even caught a few on Erie Dearies in areas of the lake that aren't condusive habitat for smallmouth. If you can find a good rocky flat with a bit of structure, you should be able to find some nice fish. There's plenty of them in the lake - probably the most overlooked fish in Erie. Good luck
