Muzzleloading Shotguns.

I now have two servicable ML shotguns for small game. The first is a 12 gauge drop-in single barrel for my T/C Renegade. I have worked up loads with Feltan Bluestreak Wads and plastic wads for my regular trap loads.

Today I found the shotgun load for my .50 smoothbore flinter Hawken. I got some .50 caliber Ox-Yoke Wonder Wads at the local gunshop today and went to the bench. I put in 75 grains of 2F Goex BP, a Wonder Wad, 70 grains of shot (per the powder measure) and topped it with another Wonder Wad. At 30 yards, I had a nice even pattern of #6 shot on the patterning target. The .50 Smoothbore will do just fine for PA squirrels and rabbits this fall and be stoked with roundball for October deer.
