I came across a MARS rifle scope. It is an old German basic scope made in Japan. But I can not seem to GOOGLE the actual maker of the scope. It resembles an old Japan Tasco. It's 6x 42mm with a #1 post, with a 1" tube Can you shine any light on the maker? It was widely distributed by Quelle, before the Germans regulated the private firearms, and created the waffenbisitskarte. My father in law said he had a Mars on a .22LR he bought in 1974 that came with the rifle, which I own now. It has my old Redfield 3-9x on it now. Any and all imput is welcome........................Jon

Boy Jon, never heard of that one, you stumped me. Sounds like it would do ok on a .22 daytime rifle, but the advances in optics over the last 20 years has been tremendous. I also found zilch on a few web searches. Does it have both windage and elevation knobs? Some of the earlier ones only had elevation and you adjusted windage from the rear mount. Keep it for a souvenir !! Sorry I couldn't find anything out on it, Waidmannsheil, Dom.

Thanks for the effort Dom,
I am sure it is one of those scopes made for Quelle, like Sears and JC Pennys had scopes with their names put on them. It has windage and elevation, with clicks. I may try it out on my .308, just to kinda "stress test" it. Thanks.............................Jon
