Post Remington 514?

I found a shop yesterday close to where I work that has two remington 514 single shot bolt action 22lrs for $99 each. They are old, but look to be in good shape. Anybody know if these were good bad or indifferent 22s?

Wife already told me to pick one up Friday if I want it, but I wanted opinions first.

They were good 22s, just as accurate as the 510.

Nice little rifle. Make sure the one you want is grooved for tip offs. Don't think they all were and try talkin the guy down to 75 bucks. Probably do that.

"grooved fer tip offs?"
Grooves on the top of the reciever to accept tip off mounts for a scope.
Today, the grooves for tip off mounts (typical .22 rimfire scope mounts) are almost universal, but they weren't in Thee Olden Days.
Mounting a scope will be much easier- and cheaper- if the rifle is grooved.
