New carry gun

Just picked up my new carry gun for summer weather today.
I ended up going with the Kel-Tec P3at
It's a 380 cal, yeah I know... small. But the physical size is more important to me for summer clothes carry. I decided some gun is better than no gun
From what reviews I have read and talking with a few other owners, it seemed like my best choice at this point. Got the gun at the local Gander Mountain for $269
So now the critical part, what say everyone else about this new addition? Any hints or special things to look out for? The one thing I have found as a common thread about it... shoot at least 50 rounds thru it to break it in before complaining about any jams or hang ups. Ohter than that seems to be good results.
I was told by another salesman at the gun counter tonite when he saw me purchasing it, "you'll like it, there are at least 5 of them walking around on employees at the store tonite."

Hopefully, I can go and put some rounds through it this weekend.

for the few minutes a day that i am not on huntchat, i am on another page that is all about hand guns (glocks) but there is a never ending pile of threads there about the P3-AT. all of the people commenting there own a keltec and nobody there would dare pick on the keltec because it is a capable caliber and that gun is so easily carried, that the calibers downfalls are made up by the guns ease of use. well except some have said even the 380 is a handful in that tiny piece. the only thing i have heard is as you have mentioned for the p3 AT and the p-32 they need a handful sent fired down range to be deemed reliable. the nra even suggest 200 rounds to have it sent back if need be before depending on the gun, i like it just because having a gun on you is the key, beyond that how could something priced so right be wrong?

Well, I got out and put over 100 rounds through this little puppy yesterday. I've got to say, I'm pretty impressed with it. Had three slight jam ups, and those were in the first 50 rounds. Even those were easily cleared by racking the slide. After that it performed flawlessly. Accuracy was good also.
The main complaints I found on reading reviews of this gun were recoil and long trigger pull. It did take me about 2 clips to get used to that long double action pull, but after that it wasn't even noticeable. Especially when shooting in fast, point and shoot scenarios. That was another thing I found I liked very well... I was more accurate doing point and shoot at 7 paces, than trying slow controlled aimed shots. To me this is very important in a carry gun.
As for the recoil, I didn't find it bad at all. The trigger guard did rub against my trigger finger at first. I either got used to it or worked some of the plastic away . That is the next thing I will do with this little thing, take my dremel and clean up some of the flashing left on the plastic from molding.
All in all, I am very happy with this shooter, and would suggest it to anyone needing a very small carry gun.
Especially for the price. Below is a picture of the P3AT next to my Springfield XD9 (4"barrel). It gives you a pretty good idea of how small this is. Plus it's only 3/4" thick.

not new, but more of what I consider a CCW piece. Its bigger than the little KelTechs, but its a lot more effective. Worn in good leather, its is no harder to conceal than a pocket pistol.

This particular HP is chambered in .40 S&W

Finally did it

I have been kicking around the Idea of getting a carry for a couple years now,so today I was at Jays in Gaylord,Mi and I wasn't even considering buying a pistol. We were just there to kill time and browse around, well the salesman said what would you be interested In If you were looking? I said a Smith & Wesson in .40 S&W...out came a complete package,Pistol, belt holster, mag holster and 3 sets of handgrips and the case. And because he took the time to answer all my questions(and I had alot)because this was my first concealed......and not once did he rush or pressure me,I bought it. And I feel that I got a very good deal...$500 out the door. But unfortunately since I wasn't intending on buying,I did not have a purchasers permit...so now I have to go back up next weekend to pick it up. I can't hardly wait.
