SD state update

Northern Black Hills is good and the Southern Hills is explosive dry as I just got done working a big Forest Fire down there. One person dead, two firefighters burned and 33 homes lost.

The North Eastern part of the State was real wet and in fact I expect many of the pheasant nests were washed out.

I'm not far from the NE border and they really got a heavy rain yesterday. Watertown on south got another drenching. Good for the cover, I'm not sure how the nests did earlier. I'm sure the duck sloughs are in excellent shape.

North Dakotas rooster count is down according to F&G. How do they get the Roosters to crow anyway? slam their feet in a door.

Thats the kind of job I need. After listening to Jet Engines for 27 years I couldn't hear a rooster crow if it was sitting on my shoulder. I can't remember the last time I heard a bird sing.

In South Dakota years ago they used to rely on the Rural Mail Carriers to do the counting for them.
