Angry Migraines

Never really had migraines in the past, but I've had one for the past 5 days now. All I can say is this stinks. Actually had a few other words in mind, but this a family site. Anything short of cutting my head off to get rid of it I would try.

I cannnot imagine what chronic migraine sufferers go thru. This is just absolutley miserable. For those that never had one, hope you never do.

If BC headache powder chased by a regular old faishioned coke doesn't kill it do this (it will help ease it but not make it go away)

With the thumb and trigger finger of your right hand, find the nerve cluster located between the thumb and trigger finger of your left hand. Just above the webbing and just below the bone. It should be a fairly muscley area there if you are in the right place. Relax the left hand and close your eyes in a dim room with no loud or repettative noise (ie stay away from TVs and Computers). With the thumb on top of the hand and the trigger finger on the palm opposit of it message with a bit of preassure in a clockwise motion. Your thumb should not be moving around on the skin if you are doing it properly, but instead the skin should be moving with it (only a slight motion is needed). Here is the important part. DO NOT put too much preassure on it or it will make the headache worse. IE you can be fairly heavy on it and be fine, but you are not trying to crack a walnut here you are trying to message a nerve cluster.

Anyway good luck buddy.

I hate migraines. I used to get them quite regularly, but it's backed off some since I got a little older. Now I generally get one or two a year.

There are medications you can take, but most of those just knock me out.

If you've had a migraine for 5 days I would go and get it checked out if you haven't already. That's an awful long time to be in pain.

Eat 3 tbl spoons of yellow mustard. For those of you that suffer from leg cramps and cramps of the sort, do the same. I don't know why but it works.......could be the vinegar. Sports Dr's cure.

TIA's and Migraines

TIA's(Transient Ischemic Attacks) are what we used to call mini strokes. Usually don't last that long(5 days)...and there is usually a minor loss of motor skills etc. As one who has had a migraine or 1000, let me tell you they can last a month or more. When I had them as a kid we didn't have medication to ease them. Well . maybe valium or something. But we didn't have the money for that. As stated, dark rooms quiet and something cool on your head will really help. I can tell ya that what GOB said to do will help...at least for a little while..but generally it won't get rid of it completely. At least not a real migraine Nasty things!!

Went to the doc today, we'll see if what he gave me helps.

Skeet, I did notice a slight loss of motor skills, now that you said that. I was kinda ignoring that, just chalking it up to not feeling good.

Get them all the time. It's amazing how high your pain tolerance builds. If I don't sleep in 48 hours because of the pain, I go into the doc and get a shot. Just make sure you're not going anywhere for a while because they really kick your butt. It does however get rid of the migraine, or you just don't give a rats behind. Have to do that every month or two. Usually have one or two migraines a week, but the small ones usually pass in 2 to 6 hours. It's still hell none the less.

Hey Classic

Generally TIA is associated with pretty high blood pressure. Hopefully you haven't had TIA's. They are precursors to worse things. Hope the doc checked ya out good. Let us know what he gave ya and if it worked. Don't get 'em like I used ta..but still every now and then!

Hey Skeet, guess I don't have to worry about tia's, I can smoke a whole pack of cigs and by blood pressure is still low. Doc gave me zomig(sp?) Seemd to work, to a point. My head still hurts slightly today but I can deal with it. I think my head is just strained from hurting that bad for that long.
