If you won't get a chance to look there again, you probably won't get a chance to look anywhere else either. Confidence is always higher going where you've seen some birds, if season hasn't opened they likely haven't been disturbed unless the farmer plowed the field.

I'd go back and set up and wait them out.

so as it came to be i didnt hunt this field till saturday. in the dark as we were setting up another truck pulled into the field and they came over to talk, i hate this more than just about anything, meeting another flash light in the dark coupled with the majority of idiots i see goose hunting makes me really nervous. well they introduced themselves a father and son, and he said he had seen the geese pouring in there and wanted to know if they could put their 20 full bodies among out dekes, other wise they would go across the street and compete for the same birds. they were extremely nice folk, so our party of 3 became a party of five. i come to find out neither of them had ever shot a goose. they had just spent 800 + on blinds and bigfoots, so i made it my mission to find them their first birds. all i asked was that i call the shots. it made them really nervous that i damn near let geese land on my feet before yelling to shoot, but they got their geese, kt got nothing but cold and tired, definately made new friends
kt
ps. geese were still using the field like crazy

Good for you kt, hunters getting along together in the field was more common years ago than it is today. You did the right thing and you did more for that father & son than you may realize today.

I had the honor of being invited to throw my decoys in with the best duck hunter in our area when I was a kid and we both showed up in the same slough, I still remember it well about 25 years later. Now I remember him as a great duck hunter and a classy gentleman.

That is a great story KT.

I had close to the same thing happen 2 seasons ago. I met 4 guys out in the field. It was 2 fathers and 2 sons and I was hunt with my dad that day. We all decided to hunt together and I made 4 friends that day. We had a great time even though we only killed 2 birds. Since then, I have hunted with them on several occassions and will probably hunt with them again once I get over the cold I have been suffering through for 2 weeks now.

There ain't nothing wrong with waterfowling in the rain. Sad thing is I was feeling better for a day or two, and then I caught another cold from a mutual hunting buddy of mine and my dad. I have the same symptoms as him and I want to kick him at this point. The geese are flying like crazy around here because of the weather.

By the way, I hear you about the Skins game. That was utterly sad, but I figured we would lose that way. Nothing like an interception inside the 20 with time running out as your team tries to make a winning drive. Honestly, I barely watch football any more.

Hey kt that was a good thing you did right there, not many folks will do that now days.

Went out for the 1st time on turkey day, got the geese all set up, layout blinds all set up and waited and waited and waited then it happened killed two teal still waiting on the geese
Saw a big 'ol flock of snows in the fire company's field after church this morning, and I have been getting real good reports of lots of ducks at prime hook and Assowoman.
