Any Tips?

My deer antlers are soaking in the garage, any tips other than: bleaching the antler plate( I'm only mounting the antlers), and soking for 2-3 days.

I boil the hide off the skull cap. Check every 5-10 minutes and use needle nose pliers to pull the hide off. Once finished getting the hide off, continue to boil for another 5 minutes. This helps the remaining membrane come off. Remove from water and allow to cool. Use powdered Borax to assist you in rubbing the membrane off the skull cap. Once clean, allow to dry. If it is very clean, you can spray with bone white paint. The option is use 30% peroxide (never use bleach, i.e., Clorox, etc). You must wear eye protection and rubber gloves as this is very dangerous. Paint works fine if your cap is clean. Remember to cover the antlers before spraying. grayghost
