5.7 x 28
Where does this fit. Seem like it might make a nice contender round. (To bad it has no rim.) My guess is that it is just for bad guys in body armor.

I don't know but I've been told it's hard to swim with the weight of gold. On the other hand I have heard it said it's just as hard with the weight of lead.

It does not really fit. As a civilian if you have a 221 why a 5.7x28mm. The Germans have gone around the 5.7 with the 4.6x30mm so it might just go into the memory, I remember that round, department.
Our top Spl ops folks are using the .177cal 4.6x30mm MP7A1. I understand it has no recoil, is accurate and is extreamly lethal in house to house or room to room encounters. The MP7 replaced the 9mm MP5. Ed

I've read about them chambered in AR's, and bolts, and wildcatted, necked down to .172 (17 velociraptor) would work in a contendor, just as well as the 223 does.

While it certainly would make a very tiny, lightweight, medium-range, bolt-action, youth/ladies' deer rifle, it still wouldn't have much of a market.
I predict an early demise.

When this round first appeared it was a devastating round and did pierce armor. Remember all the hoopla la that came out of Neu Yawk Cesspool?
There is one small problem, the bullet that was used in the original round was never and would not be released to the public, it was for the Military and Police use only. So as some of you have observed you now have a P/A cartridge that is underpowered for most purposes and does nothing that a lot of other rounds can't do. I agree with Rocky, XOXO, bye bye. The 30 carbine case necked to 17, 19 or 20 is a better round. Minimal powder charges and able to reach/kill to 275yds. Remember also it was to be utilized in a machine pistol. Best wishes, Bill
