Being a lover of the Model 70 Winchesters, especially since I traded a pre '64 in 1964, I've watched the progress of the new ones built in S. Carolina. Even though I own a very nice Super Grade .270, vintage 1991, I always longed for maybe just one more. (You know what I mean, right.) Well, today at my favorite Gun Store, I learned that even though the new 2008 Super Grades were only offered in .300 Win. Mag. and 30-06 THERE WILL BE A SUPER GRADE .270 built for 2009. Made my day and wanted to share that info with other Model 70 .270 lovers.

Alan,
Do you know if the 2009 guns will be in a "Classic" style or the push feed style? Best, Ed

Sorry Rapier
I'm afraid I don't know the answer to that one. If I find out I'll let you know.
These links may help you find the answer: http://gunsandammomag.com/cs/Satelli...0+Super+Shadow http://dealers.winchesterguns.com/pr...y.asp?cat=001C Last edited by Alan Engstrom; 12-02-2008 at 10:26 PM. |

I have been a M70 fan for many years. I got my first new M70 in 1957 and now have a battery of pre 64 70s.
I enjoy many of the design features of the old M70's including that safety that controls the firing pin and is three position as well. The CRF that most have is what I want as well along with no tiny springs or hooks being extractors. I looked at a new M70 recently and it had that good Featherweight barrel contour that I like. However the safety was noisy on the way off. Some of the older ones are like that too. I am tired of that curved checkering pattern on the Featherweights. Recently I have been buying and hunting with Kimbers as they weigh less. |

I can't wait to get my hands on one. My they are sure making them sound like the reincarnation of the Rifleman's rifle on their web page. With a bowed head I say, Oh Lord, PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE, let us recieve our beloved Model 70 back and please Lord, don't let them screw them up
