Better than Garage Finds

Associate .,.....not friend.....finally conned me...yesterday, into going to an auction on self storage units......we bought 6 for $300.Flipped a coin for which ones were who's. Holy MOG....so far. I've come up with a Makarov/Egyptian AK/nickle plated Smith 39-2 and a 3 screw Ruger 357......not to mention a old CJ5....Humongous screen Sony......also, a lot of junk....haven't sorted it all........Gawd, lord love the economy! Lot of ammo!
May just quit and do this full time!
Dan

It's a gamble...but it's better than lottery....you ARE gonna get something for your $$$$

Omg

Dan I used to do that stuff when I was back east..Made out like a bandit many many times. Bought a storage unit once for 30 bucks..Mostly junk but there was a 5 gallon water jug in there with more than 800 bucks when the bank got done counting.. They did charge me 10 bucks to count and sort it though. My daughter has made out great buying those darn things..But there is a lot of junk. Most of 'em I just broke even or made a little bit . Here in Wy. they take all the stuff out and sell it individually.which is a crock.. In most states the stuff belongs to the original owner till it is sold all at one time..... BUT there is good news for me too. Bought another neat rifle today..A Weatherby(yeah I know) Mark V in that great caliber 257 Weatherby mag..with a Vari X III 3.5 x10 and 100 rounds of ammo reloading dies and the extra bullets etc the fellow had...and think I have run up on a Win 348 Lever gun.

I'm not serious bout doing this for a livin!!!!!Luck can't last forever. Col
is a high turnover state. The bulk of newbies come here with great dreams...
most leave with the shirt on the back! They simply abandon the stuff they came with! I got lucky, all the guns were in bags in the CJ.(I haven't got guts enough to shoot the AK.......man, that thing is ratty...others were in nice shape) Makarov was a bring back...still had hard grips with the star on em.

Ya can not get any deals on forclosed storages here.

The owners will bid you up!!!!!!

Besides that the one owner is a gun nut so there would not be any gun stuff left by the time they auctioned it off

Storage stuff

In Md they will not allow the owner to bid on his own stuff. Once the first bid is made they have lost rights to it and the owners of the storage units don't allow them to bid anyway..unless they want to bid what they owed.. Not to say they don't have someone else bid for them..but they usually aren't there anyway. Now that being said ol Dan is making me look like a piker with his finds.. Good fer you Dan..keep it up..

That is a joke around here!!!!

You have to watch some of the auctioneers as some of them will have you bidding against yourself or pulling bids against you out of the air.

This same family was having an auction of a house that had belonged to the wifes grandparents. They all of a sudden started bidding against my farmer buddy that was trying to buy the place for his son, saying they had decided they wanted to keep the place.

It ended up costing my buddy a an extra 10 grand over where the auction had stalled out.

Here, they have to post 2 legal ads...stating that contents of XXX is going to be sold at auction on X date. Facility cannot enter it. On the X time, it's a crap shoot....let the buyer beware....only time I've ever done this and will probably quit while I'm ahead......my other units were nothing but personal stuff....pics/clothes....ratty household stuff....sad....when ya think of the dreams the people had.............that's life.
