HELP, velvet antlers

my friend and my wife got thier first bucks this year archery, and they want to do scull mounts our ? is how do you save the antlers and remove the velvet??? and a simple mixture to boil the skulls in??? thanks for the help...

Why wouldn't you want to preserve the velvet on the antlers?

You should be able to peel the velvet, or leave the skull outside and let it fall off. I've never had to boil one with velvet before, so I can't say what your results would be.

I think you could just scrape the velvet off either before or after boiling. And as far as boiling goes, I have always used Dawn dish detergent in the water. That works well to "degrease" the bone.
