Looks like a great deer but I think someone took the liberty to turn a good deer into something it's not. When I first look at this picture it's one hell of a deer. BUT, the G1's and G2's are the same points on both sides, mirrored onto each other. When I disect the pic, it looks as if the guy shot a great 8 point, and someone did some photo shop work to make it the picture that we're seeing. I could be wrong and still congratulate the hunter but I think it's a great job of reworking a picture.

BigBro,

I agree, the pic is a bit sketchy. It was sent from a cell phone, and I tried to scale it up a bit - with less than stellar results. As far as I know, it's a legitimate photo - this is 3rd hand, so I can't say 100%. If I can get a better photo, I will. My friend saw this buck last season at 40 yards - and had to pass because he'd already filled his tag. I'll try to get a better pic.

In the mean time... Got a pic from another area of IL - another very wide buck. Check it out.

Nice buck!

That's an awesome deer. I hope one of the little guys shot it! Either way, they look like they're having fun and that's what we all need. The tape measure pic shows the whole story....that's a wide deer. And maybe even helps verify the fact that there are some super wide genes in that area. Great deer and great pics...I wish I had buddies like yours!

BB,

It wasn't one of the kids. I grew up with their dad, and it was his neighbor that shot the buck. The young guy on the right in the fist picture took his first buck this fall - a nice young 6 point. One of these times, I need to get out there and do some deer hunting. Hopefully sooner than later...

My son-in-law travels to a lease within Pike County, ILL. He passes up bucks that would be very coveted in PA. ILL has some big 'uns!!
