Reloading components
I was in a gun shop yesterday and nearly fell over. They has all kinds of primers (except no Winchester) in all sizes and the shelves were packed. The greatest surprise were the prices that were from early last year. Large and small rifle and pistol primers were $26.00 per 1,000. IMR powder was $21.00 and they had it all. I hope we have turned the corner. Take care...

That sounds great on the primers. I've been adding a 1000 occasionally at $35 per lately. I think I have enough at that price.

All the gunshops around here (Richmond, VA) seem to be completely restocked with reloading components too. Unfortunatley, however, their prices still seem to be sky-high, especially commercial cast bullets.

Here in S.E. Michigan, shelves are still pretty bare.....although I must admit I haven't been seeking reloading supplies in earnest in about 3-4 months. Shelves seemed to be stocked pretty well with loaded ammo just before hunting season (couldn't find .22LR to save my life last spring!).....but prices are still on the ridiculous side.
Realize that all it takes to start another buying panic is for Holder, Pelosi, or some other mental pygmy from the current administration to say 'gun control'......all bets are off.

I am seeing the same thing in the gun shops I visit. More stuff is available and prices vary. All the nest...

Great deal! My local suppliers still want $50 per 1K for any primers - so I am ordering them online at 2k to 5K, depending on needs to spread the Hazmat Penalty out some. Widener's runs in the $27 to $28 per 1K range if I order 5000. It seems Hazmat has risen from $22.50 to $25 at many sites now.
I am good on powder, so have been trying to get enough primers to allow me to shoot more in the next few years. I had been initially getting them from our local Sportsman's Warehouse, but they folded July of 2009. No Cabela's or other big shops - just the one local gouger. He caters to the Izod-wearing Yuppie crowd - too much for a bubba's wallet! ![]() |

Primers
I did notice the prices and CCI were the least expensive and ran from $26.00 to $30.00 per 1,000. Winchester primers were $32.00 a 1,000 and Remington primers were $4.99 per 100 (did not have any bricks of 1,000). The customers did not seem to mind the prices, they were just thrilled to get primers. All the best...

Supplies seem to be showing up now. Primers don't seem to be an issue. Some bullets are back ordered. I hope the crunch is over.
Noticed that ammo is back on the shelf, even at Wally world. Thats a good sign. Prices seem down a little. |
