Winchester Model 12
About two months ago I saw a Winchester Model 12 pump shotgun in 12 gauge sitting all alone on a used gun rack in a local gun shop. The hang tag price was very reasonable for a gun in excellent condition. So I asked an older clerk to remove the barrel for inspection. When he removed the barrel, parts started falling off the shotgun. I commented that my other Model 12s did not come apart that way. For two month, the shop gunsmith fooled around and could not correct the problem. The shop sold the gun to me today for a bargain basement price.
I spoke to my local master gunsmith and he says he can fix the shotgun easily for very little money. He will get the shotgun this week for inspection and repairs. It pays to know a gunsmith who is a true master. Take care... Joe |

I have a model 12 that was my fathers first and only shotgun. Nothing ever fell off of that. The last one i say used in a gun shop was priced at $350. Told Dad i was going to buy it. He said just take mine. I am done hunting. I now own it. I hunted with it for a couple years and have since retired it. It is probably 75 years old.

I am a M-12 fan
Have had a lot of 'em since I was a kid. Only have about 10 now. But my first one is still here. A first year 12 ga(1915) and a first year Vent Rib trap gun(1919) the 1915 one was my father's and has had about 1/4 million shells through it since I have had it since 1963. No more adjustments left in the barrel ring..sigh..Had a very few replaced parts aand still going. I have found 2 other barrels that I have fitted to the gun so now I have a F, M And IC bbl. Just good ol guns and smooth. I also bought a Solid Rib trap gun at an auction out here in Wyoming a couple years ago for 250 bucks. Somebody was asleep at the wheel on that one..but it weren't me!! The early VR trap doesn't have the original stock though..darn it. I'll find one for it one day, though

You just can`t beat the old Mod. 12. I have a dozen of them. It just seems they keep following me home. The oldest is a 1913 20 ga. I do have a built up trap gun that will need an extractor before long, got no idea of how many 1,000`s of rounds the gun has fired, but I have put many 1,000`s through some with no visible wear.
