worst flight ever - MI to MN

Wow

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

my 1:20 flight to Minneapolis took 4 1/2 hrs !
First the plane was too heavy to cross the lake so they burned up some fuel on the runway.
Then we got detoured north to try and circle the worst of the winds (it didnt work) and then we ran out of gas !! Had to land in WI to refuel in order to handle the holding pattern around MPS/St Paul. So...three hours into the ordeal we WERE STILL 1:20 AWAY FROM OUR DESTINATION !!!

worst flight I ever took. couldnt even serve water as the plane was like being inside a rugby scrum for the entire flight

hope the winds are gone before the return flight tomorrow

Your pilot should have called me, I would have told him it's blowing 50 mph and raining. MSP airport is going down to one runway this afternoon, glad you don't have to fly out again today.....

If I lived closer to the airport I'd invite you over for some antelope burger tonight.

Hope you made it back, it was still blowing too hard in MN to light a grill last night so I cooked antelope burgers on my old cast iron skillets. Onions & tomatoes & potatoes from the garden...a little sip of Jameson on the side...too bad you missed it.

#%^&(%&

after 4 flights that never happened (including being locked on one plane for over two hours sitting at the gate) I gave up and rented a car.

Just got back to MI. Quite the drive in all that wind too

Subway was the only thing within walking distance - not my fav

not to mention that the hotel lost power Tues night - thus phone was not recharged - so I was "blind"

With all that, how did the vaunted TSA treat you? Were they at least civil?

I have not flown since 9-11, but could write a book about bad time at the airport. Only loosing 4 or 5 hrs on a flight is no big deal. I`ve done that acouple of times in 1 week. Several time I`ve lost a day. Sleeping in airports because you tried untill the last flight out to get out and haveing the first flight out the next morn leaving in 6 hrs. don`t give you much time to go to a motel so I would usually just sleep in the aitport. I have several 100,000 frequent flier mile I`ll never use.

I'd just drive, with your luck, landing on the Hudson would be a sign of good luck.
