My 6 yr old daughter's buck
Well 4th time out seems to be the charm here. My 8 yr old boy killed his buck on his 4th time out this year and last night my 6 yr old daughter connected on her first buck ever after 4 days of hunting. I just got back from and Idaho trip where I killed a bull elk, so the woods was left alone for about 2 weeks. After checking the trail camera on the way in, I knew we'd be seeing some action that night. We sat for about an hour and I told her to get ready because in 10 minutes the bucks would be cruising. Not 5 minutes later I hear a dear coming. The buck was about 40 yards when we spotted him, so I fired up the video camera and hit my grunt tube a few times. He came in on a string and she closed the deal on this nice little 6 point with a 23 yard shot. The buck ran 30 yards and fell over. Her reaction on video was priceless. I'll edit the video and get it posted here. She sure made dad proud and now we have another hunter in the family. Now that both youngsters are tagged out, dad can start hunting during the final and best week of bow season. Needless to say it's been a good week...a bull elk and a first whitetail taken by my 6 yr old daughter! I'll post about my Idaho adventure soon.
