PA Rifle deer Season opens Monday, November 28, 2011
This next Moday opens the PA rifle deer season. I will be afiled on my farm to keep the HUMPS off my posted land. My trail cameras say I have a nice buck and several does calling this old farm home. I plan to keep it that way.
I buy an antlerless deer tag for $6.60 every year to save a doe's life. It also doubles to cover me if I need to FINISH a poorly hit doe limping across my fields. Be safe and hunt hard. Adam

I was afield at 0600 Opening Day of the PA rifle deer season. At 0700 I saw a 4-point buck walk past my stand. At 0715 I saw a big doe walk past my stand. BOTH deer still can call this farm home. I have NEVER seen the BIG BUCKS Alt told us in 2001 that we would see IF we adopted his deer kill program. PGC "Stayed the Course" after Alt left and PGC continued to kill deer. WALLA! we had NO MORE oak tree regeneration and JUST Fewer deer.
I do NOT shoot uninjured does. All the FOOLS wot shoot does are KILLING THREE deer, but those NUMB NUTS CANNOT Do The Math! If we have a "Poor" buck to doe ratio, I advised PGC to stop Archers killing 30,000 BUCKS Pre-rut! That suggestion was apparently TOO CEREBRAL for the Pennsylvania Game Comission! Alt DID have 2 years of NO bear hunting and then a ONE-DAY and a TWO-Day bear season to allow the bear population to RECOVER. WHY cannot PGC give the PA deer the SAME Consideration? PA deer have ALWAYS done well BEFORE PGC DECIMATION! Adam

After sundown on Saturday December 10, 2011 the PA rifle deer season closed. Earlier in the day I watched 3 does go and bed in my West Woods. On Sunday, after church, my dog and I drove about in our Polaris Ranger. On the Upper Field we saw 3 large does and one medium-size doe. Well, there are 4 does PGC did not kill off in the 2011 season!
Several farmers hereabouts post: "NO DOE HUNTING." More PA landowners need to do likewise. Adam

its money baby, its all in the dollar signs... as the game commission limps along the last thing it can afford to do is give up the revenue in doe tags. i dont recall how many tags were for sale but multiply that by 6.60 and its a chunk of change that would sorely be missed.. i propose up the price, lower the allocation. nobody needs 3 deer a year, yes some shoot 8 and use every last bit down here by me, but we dont "need" to. i'm not all that sore over the doe situation, my much larger concern is access, more and more ppl on fewer acres
