				U.S. Model 1917 Winchester

I was in a gun shop today wasting time and saw a mint U.S. Model 1917 Winchester .30-06 bolt action from WWI. It was sitting in a sporter stock, but the metal was uncut. The barrel date is 1-18 and is like new. It had a hang tag price of $179, but there is a ten percent discount today on all firearms. I bought it and have an original stock and metal on hand to restore it to original condition. Right next to the sporterized 1917 was a good condition 1917 Eddystone marked at $999 and reduced to $799. My rifle once restored will be even nicer. Take care... Joe |

Joe, Good find on that Winchester P-17. I got my Winchester P-17 for $25 in 1968 while in college with G.I. Bill dollars. The other day I watched "The Lost Battalion", again, and never saw so many P-17 Rifles in a war movie. Adam
