Franken-Storm ??
just got back from chasing deer around the woods (tagged two !) so I havent seen the TV or news for a few days
I have head to the east coast next week - Start in SC and drive the coast up to RI. Looks (I think) like I'll miss the brunt of the storm but may have some clean up mess to deal with? My buddy (a FEMA responder) just got orders to fly to VA on Tues to stage. Who else needs to duck ? Be careful out there

Suggest you pick spots along your route and call mid week to end of week and see if the roads are passable and stops will be open to receive you. This all is old hat to us here in FL. But, going into a storm effected area a week after, might not be a good plan of attack unless you are selling plywood and roofing material.
![]() Hope you folks in the effected area are ready by now. I expect you will have some power outages and flooding. Perhaps the things done last year will mitigate the effects, but I doubt it. Most times the govt. just patches up what was, so it can do er all over again. Watch your top knot. Ed

NY has cancelled their conference due to gas shortage.
SC should be find RI still says "Everything is fine" although the hotel is on a island and only 4 feet above sea level., I have my doubts looks like the gas problem will cause me to detour inland. Hopefully wont have to cut out the last half of the trip alltogether

Back years ago I used to go up to NH from FL. I also lived in NJ for 3 years. When things were bad I would go up to the Tapan Zee Bridge and cross there. You can get to it by running the Garden State or the NJ Turnpike then turning off to the north. But both run close to the coast, might be better off going up through Allentown and across to Tapan Zee. The juncture of NJ and PA at Trenton, where you catch the S end of the turnpike, might not be good as it is near the coast.

now planning to detour inland. Will have to see how bad the gas situation is to determine just how far from the coast to stay. I did toss a gas can in the van - just in case

Just heard that New Jersey residents are traveling into pennsylvania are far west as quakertown for gas.
If you drive up the middle of Pa you should be fine.

We got lucky here in Maryland. 350,000 people lost power with BG&E, and we were one of them, but only for 2 hours. Gas has not been a problem.
My sister in-law on Long Island was without power for 5 days and she is spending 2 hours in line when she needs to fill up her Sonata. She used to ride public transportation into Manhattan to work, but that isn't really an option, so she has been spending 2 to 3 hours on the road each way to get to work. No damage to their house though, and they are still breathing, so not as bad as it could have been. My wife's aunt on Long Island just got power back yesterday. She was spending time over my wife's uncle who had power. For some, this storm really sucked.
