Congratulations.

I had to wait about 10 years to shoot my first antlered buck, which turned out to be a nice one. After that, I shot three more the next season and one that was really nice. I could have shot another really nice 10 pointer last season, but decided to pass on him because I had my 11 pointer at the taxidermist already and taxidermy isn't the cheapest thing in the world.

Hey Trapper
Nice buck, congrats. What kind of shooting iron were you using? I got a nice four point in Ohio, one brother got a real nice 8 point and the other got a nice six point. Was a good year. MC

Thumbs up Great Buck Trapper!

That's a heck of a first deer! Congratulations-you'll have to give us the full story on your hunt.

I got it a few days after opening day. I was hunting with my grandpa, using his Ruger .243. It was probably about 4:30 p.m. I hadn't seen a thing before that evening, then as it started to get dark I heard it coming in from my right, I nudged my grandpa and pointed towards it. It wasn't more than 40 yards away when I pulled the trigger. I dropped it right there. I'm now having it mounted, it's going to be about a year before I get it back. It was fun!

I'll bet your grandpa was more excited about it than you were. When I killed my first antlered buck 3 seasons ago, my dad was more excited about it than I was.

Now, I am getting married in 6 months and all he can talk about is how great it will be to go hunting with his grandchildren. No pressure there.
