				.25-06 and Hornady 75gr. VMAX

I'm starting load development this weekend on a new Remington 700BDL in .25-06. I've made up quite a few loads with 100, 117, and 120gr. bullets, but am woefully short of loads for lighter bullets. I went out yesterday and got a box of Hornady 75gr. VMAXs. Any ideas of what to use for good accuracy loads? Thanks and best wishes.

I`ve had good accuracy from the Serria 75 grners, and the Hornady should be about the same. I have a .257 AI with a 1 in 12 twist. If you have a 1 in 10 you might be alittle fast for them. As for loads I would recomand you check the powder manufactures web pages. They all have data for their powders. My Serria manual list IMR-4064 and 760 as the fastest in the .25-06 at 3700 fps. with a 75 grn. bullet. With 4064 the starting load is 43.7 gn. and the max. is 49.0. With 760 the starting load is 50.0 gn. and the max. is 56 gn.

The first caliber that I loaded. I used Sierra 70's and IMR 4895 as I recall. I rememberl consistantly hitting small water filled baloons at 385 stepped off yards. Didn't have a chron then so don't know what they did; or much sense --- because I sold one of the most accurate rifles I ever owned (Rem 700 ADL) for something more shiny.

My friend wanted to try the 75 gr V-max for PDs so I loaded up some for him and we found a accurate load with RL-15 and he had no problem hitting PDs out to 500 yards out of his Rem 700 ADL 25-06. I don't remember how many grains it was loaded with but was between 47.8 to 49.4 gr RL-15 with Winchester WLR primers and the maximum according to the manual is 50.9 gr.
