Shooting the "Gas" guns...

Now that rifle deer season is over in PA, this is a fine time of year to walk about the old farm shooting the Garands, Hakims and FN ABL M-49s at various gongs placed about the land. While I like shooting the bolt action military arms, I prefer the semis. Unfortunately, semis are not legal for PA deer hunting. I use the "last reloading" of cartridge cases for the gas guns and am not concerned if I loose the brass in the snow. Blasting at gongs in Winter keeps me in shape for the high power rifle league that begins in April. At our club we have semi auto rifle matches and cast bullet military rifle matches. I like collecting and shooting all my military arms. Is anyone else shooting over the Winter?

Winter Shooting

Not until the mags arrive for the carbine [M1 rock ola].

Then I have a bunch of wolf ammo to see how the latest

toy performs.

Merry Christmas

Oh yeah, Hakim, and ljungman.

I found a way to keep the Hakim from denting all the brass so badly on the shoulder. well not "I" foudn it, got it off a forum, but it works.

take some surgical tubing and cut it up the narrows. qwrap it around that metal handle (wher ethe old rubbers pad was) and make several thickness's of it, works great.

my ljnugman still has the original deflector, so i may try to work off it to make a better one for the hakim.

gumpokc,

I have three Hakims and ALL were adjusted to put the ejected cartridge cases in the next county! I turned the gas adjustment "triangle" clockwise a click or two and now have the ejected brass nearby my backyard bench. The Hakim is one fine arm. If I ever see another for sale, it will come home with me.

I like my semis also. My favorite is the M1A. I also like the Garand and M1 Carbine. I have a SKS that I've never shot (shot SKS's but not my own) I purchased a Barrett M99 and I need to get out and shoot it also.
The range I go to has gongs set at 300, 400, 500, 600, 700, and a 55 gal drum at 1000yds. Hitting the 500 yard gong with open sights is a blast with the M1A. At 500 yds the gong looks like the head of a ball point pen.
