My buddy's dad has a great big diesel pusher motorhome. He pulls a trailer with a Harley in the front and a Navigator in the back. I would trade the Harley for a quad and the Navigator for a Chev 4x4. A guy could live with that.
Imagine travelling from hunting season to season to shoot to shoot.

Although I rarely play the lottery, when I do go in with a group from work on tickets, I like to fantasize about doing the above-taking a couple of years to travel around the country in an RV and hit all of the different hunting seasons in different states. I s'pose that after a couple of years though, one would become rather homesick.
Ahhhhhh, it's nice to dream, ain't it? Heck, it's worth it for a couple of bucks every now and again just for the dreams. Nice cars and great pics folks! |

Actually, I did get a good chuckle seeing the ads for discount car insurance (I believe Geico) atop these gorgeous luxury automobiles.

I'd take that O-2 over any of those Hot Rods, Rocky!!!
I know we've discussed this sometime long ago but I am absolutely infatuated with the Cessna 336/337 and always have been since I saw my first one when I was probably 7 or 8 years old. In my aviation travels I have come across a few just beautifully restored birds and have a plan to own one someday. I just gotta get myself to a point where I'm chasing ducks less and flying more!

Why chase the ducks less. Just use the plane to go where the ducks are. You can kill two ducks with one stone. LOL
All kidding aside, having a plane makes it a lot easier to travel where the ducks are. Granted, flying isn't necessarily cheap, but if you are going to fly, why not fly and hunt too.

I would agree, Fabs...up to a point. I have considered driving one of my small trucks and finding a spot at the airport to leave it so I have transportation to my club once I get there. There is one important limiting factor....at least to my personal limitations when flying and that's the weather. When the weather is excellent for duck hunting it's almost always very bad for General Aviation aircraft.
I was up at my club over the Christmas - New Years week and my buddy was going to fly up to hunt with me for a day or two but we had severe thunderstorms, tornado warnings (imagine that in Californee!) and sustained winds at 45 knots with gusts to 60! That was on and off all week long so there were only a few very limited windows to get in and out. That kind of stuff really leads to "get there-itis" which lures pilots into making marginal decisions and possibly trouble. In my case it would be a go, no-go decision and that just leaves me with very little drive time to make it after all. Sometimes it's just safer and even faster to drive!

C2K,
My Endodontist, the rat that gave me my last root canal, has 2 Pilatus 12's! He and his son who is also an Endodontist bought the first one and formed a mini airline to service a direct route between San Luis Obispo and Sacramento, CA because the majors abandoned that route and to get there you had to fly south to L.A. or Pheonix and then up to Sac. It took about 4-5 hours to get there which is exactly how long it takes to drive! I'm not sure if they are still running it however. It was called MarcAir. He tells me stories of how he and his son buzz up to Alaska for one day Halibut trips and come back!
