Does anybody use invisible fence? If so, what do you think of it? I think I misnamed rusty and Leeann. They have been more like Hudinie and Forest Gump lately. LeeAnn has mastered opening doors and then helps rusty get out. Then Rusty runs-andruns-and runs! Want to put up a split rail fence with wire on it that is not doable this summer so i thought of invisible fence as a temp fix. Give me your opinions. HC/ Hunting Dogs has never steered me wrong!

I have never used it, but I have seen it in use. It prevented one of my parents' neighbors setters from mauling Nitro when Nitro was a puppy. Nitro was so scared that I had to carry him the rest of the way home. Funny thing now is that he is way bigger than that setter, so the setter stays well away.

Hopefully, others on here will have actually used the product.

We've got an Invisible Fence. Actually, this is the second place we've had it. If you get the real one, which we have, its great. Everytime i hear of problems, its with a knock-off or DIY version of this. Get the real thing and it will probably work for you.

We've had a large Chessie in it and she was fine with it. We currently ahve a Bichon and a Basenji trained on it and its quite effective with them. Neither of these dogs will even apporach the boundary even with their collars off. I had the Basenji out ofr w walk the other day and a neighbor had the little white trianing flags up on their yard. She would not even go within 10 yards of their flags!

Its going to be a matter of training and equipment. IF's name-brand equipment works and they will teach you how to train the dogs.

close to 50% of my Obedience business customers are ppl who installed the Inv Fence....only to find out their dog was "that one in a hundred" who ignores it !!

Remember.....they ALL shock bilaterally - that is they will shock a dog who crosses it and then tries to come back. Just as effective (maybe more so) at training them NOT to return.

As far as my business goes....I'm ALL for them ! they send me buisness

I have yet to find a dog that will ignore a shock collar. Now, the setting is different for every dog, but once you find it the dog will tend to obey. With that said, every once in a while a dog, knowing that it will get corrected, will decide to disobey.

Nitro, my yellow lab, is good as gold when the shock collar is on because he hates being corrected with it even on the lowest setting. However, he is smart and he knows when the collar isn't on. When the collar isn't on he will disobey more often because he doesn't mind me correcting him.

Somehow, I think an invisible fence would work just fine with Nitro, but my reason for a fence is to keep out the rif raf. Once I get a house I will have a fence in the backyard.

Truer words were never spoken, my pointers turn into perfect gentleman with a shock collar on...but for dailey activities around the house an eight foot fence works best for us...then I have the microchip in each dog if for some reason, "like the Lawn Men" dont fully close the gate...
