Photo Safari

I recently bought a 6 day 6 night photo safari in S.A. for the wife and I to celebrate our 20th anniversary and want your opinions on the best time to go. Should we go in the winter when the grasses are down or wait till spring when things are blooming? Any help would be greatly appreciated. We'll be just outside Johanasburg so if there are any other places or things to put on our don't miss list I'd love to hear about them. We are going here so if anyone has any information on this place good or bad we'd be interested. THANKS, Indy

What to add to Photo Safari "To Do" list?

Indyhntr,

Trevor Shaw is one of the few PH's with really many years of experience. I'm sure that you will be very well looked after. OTOH I'm not sure if Trevor is at the Manor or at the game farm these days.

I can think of quite a few "Must Do's" for a 6 day photographic Safari, but do not know what you are planning in any case. Send a PM about what you consider now, and I'll be glad to advise. Having lived around the corner from the Lion Park [a visit to which is a must do!], I know the area well and can make recommendations of places to go, restaurants, cultural diversity tours, other tours and other based on personal experience.

Can I interest you in arranging a day or so for wing shooting, trophy hunting, varminting, night time game drive or varminting or a walk around to visit gun shops, war museum or other?

In good hunting.

Hey Indyhntr

If there's any way possible, I'd at least hunt Springbok. That's the National animal of RSA and it's on the Kruger rand gold coin of RSA. I'm sure Andrew could hook you up on a good hunt and it's possible to do in a day. They are similar to hunting our Pronghorn Antelope and I'll take one everytime I return to RSA. Fantastic hunt and very affordable. Hope you have a great trip. Your wife will love it too. I'd head out of the city ASAP, cause a city is a city. Once your away from it, you'll think your on a distant planet. Congrats on your anniversary! grayghost

That is one of the things I "messed up" on my safari is not spending enough time being a tourist. I should have spent another 3 or 4 days just relaxing after the hunt.
