6x47 COAL?

Howdy-
Anyone tell me what the COAL for the 6x47 with varmint weights especially might be?
I have a Rem 788 I was thinking of rebarreling to this, but not sure if the magazine will function.
Thanks
Curt

The 6 x 47 is formed from the .222 mag. case and they list the case lenth for the 6 x 47 to be the same, which is 1.850. My guess is that when you form your brass it will come out some what shorter than that. The OAL for a .222 mag. round is listed at 2.280. It would depend on which .243 bullet you chose to use what the best optium OAL would be, but you should be able to seat any of them deep enough to get them to feed through your mag. if that`s a big consern. You might give up acouple of fps., probibly under 100 fps. at max. That`s a worst case senerio.

I concur with catfish ......

If you decide to proceed with your rebarreling, to fit in the M788 magazines you'll either have to seat the bullets really deep, or go with the lighter varmint pills.

What's the heaviest bullet normally loaded in the 6X47?

80 grains?

Thanks guys.

I plan on using a 75-80 at the heaviest, mostly 55-70 gr. This will be chiefly a PD rig in a different chambering for the hell of it.
