which dies?

Hi,
I have done very little reloading, only 44's. I am going to start reloading for my 243.
My question is which manufacturers dies are best?
I plan to use vmax 87grain bullets and use a Dillon press (550) I believe.

if your gonna use a dillion press i'd stay with dillion dies but that's just me ,myself rcbs then redding or lyman....just get as good as quality as you can afford they'll last forever if you take care of them......

I looked at the dillon website, and the local dealer looked in the book and didn't find dillon dies in 243

They make dies in 243 as i have a set. If I were going to buy a set of dies it would be Redding then RCBS. Both are good but for some reason I like Redding. I do have dies by about all of 'em and all are generally good. Lee would be last in my book

I've used about everyone's dies at one time or another. These days, I only buy dies that come in green boxes. That's Redding and RCBS.
I should say, I use a single stage press. If I used a Dillon progressive, I might lean more toward Dillon's dies.

Hey feathermax ,check out jonse31 i remembered he has a lot of dies for sale ,might be what your looking for and save & too.. just look in the reloading sec for him his post for this isn't verry old..

I am a real Dillon fan and if your going to load cast bullets for handguns Dillon dies are far better than any others on the market. For rifle dies though, there just isn`t that much difference. I have had trouble with every set of Lee dies I use in my Dillon but none of the others. Redding and RCBS is what I used the most of, but I do have several other brands that work well.
