california did it again
they passed the ammo registration bill into law...Arnie signed it!
i don't know all the particulars but it's in the latest NRA rifleman. this could be the beginning of the end for legitimate gun owners in California. the idiotic Kevin De Leon says it'll give LE a "tool"...a tool for what? all it will accomplish is to create another criminal class of people... a SAD day in California history... a slow erosion of our freedoms is being accelerated.

Since they are having trouble with 'gun ownership' and the 2nd that so far protects it, they are going after the ammo. Remove ammo from your gun and do you have a real 'gun'? I guess nothing states in the 2nd about the gun and all it's working, needed parts.....so what next? Maybe they will allow the sale of a bolt action rifle but without the bolt? I wouldn't buy a new car if it didn't come with a steering wheel...it would not be a complete car and useless....well then, isn't ammo the same? I think we better find a way to make our own black powder because even though you own 50 guns, what good are they without a bayonet on the end?....I mean ammo!
I also have talked to people on the shooting range and they seem to be having trouble with misfires of old ammo..about a yr old that is...are they making powder now days the expires with age?

What a mess - we're to the point where they are trying to "protect us from ourselves" (doesn't sound much like "government by the people, for the people"). The saddest thing about this, is that I'm sure none of the founding fathers would have believed this bull. I can't fathom the arrogance, thoughtlessness, and stupidity. This is pure unadulterated socialism - right here within our borders. What a crock.

What that new 'law' will accomplish is making a big boost to ammo sales in shops across the border into neighboring states. Maybe they will start inspecting folk's cars for bootleg ammo like they do for plant products...?
How will this stupidity affect handloaders? With factory ammo prices stil in the silly/stupid range, I wouldn't be shooting today if I hadn't gotten set up to reload every caliber I shoot! |

skeeter@ccia.com, I think it will be necessary to get a constitutional attorney to look at the wording of the 2nd Amendment. It is the only amendment that says the right of the people to keep and bear arms "shall not be infringed". If you are not allowed to buy ammunition, I would surmize you right is being seriously "infringed". This wording in not found anywhere else in the constitution or amendments. I feel it is more significant than has been admitted. This supreme court is more likely than most to find that a serious infringement has occurred. Of course someone who has been affected has to start the process through the court system. That can only occur after the SCOTUS has dealt with the question of whether or not the amendments covers the individual states. I again would opinion that it does since the states had to ratify the amendments. Why would they have to do that if they weren't affected? Maybe a lawyer would like to comment on what I have put forth.

I know of no law that sez tou can't buy ammo in a state you don't live it. Not yet anyway. All I can say is Thank God I reload and have at least a decent supply of components. The only thing I don't have is the time to reload. Paul B. |
