Why not a Rifle

You can use a Bow,Crossbow and Shotgun. Why not a Rifle like a 22 Hornet,218 B,222,223 or a 17 of some type.If you can't head shoot a Bird at 25 to 50 yards you should not be out there.

I was just thinking

Westerner2, Check your state regs on method of take. Most allow shotgun or rifle, but some require .22 caliber magnum or larger. This was written prior to .17 calibers and may be changed. They wanted to forbid .22 rimfire as in short, long, or long rifle.

In Michigan no rifles are allowed. The idiots would be shooting tom decoys at 200 yards and hitting the guy in camo sitting behind them.

A friend hunted turkeys in Texas and was sorry he didn't take his rifle as they were legal there. He couldn't get the toms in range in the open country to shot them with his shot gun.

multibeard, My son used to work in Missouri and he said the most dangerous times were the Fourth of July for boating accidents and turkey season for shooting each other. He said no way to turkey hunting because of all of the "accidental shootings". I always wondered how you could be aiming at a human, thinking it was a turkey, but we had a fellow hunting elk here (a non-resident) who shot his son for an elk. Something in the mind.
