Yeah, the Pinto was so hot that my dipstick uncle appropriated $3,000 of my grandfather's money to buy one of the first ones. He proceeded to wrap it around a tree and total it. Great story.
Wow, that might explain why he has a few screws loose.

LOL! My oldest brother actually made contact with trees on 2 separate occasions in that car! The first was when he was in the back seat with his girlfriend and while in the throws of passion one of them mistakenly released the E-brake and they rolled down a very steep hill in a secluded Avocado grove.
Try explaining that one to the 'Ol Man' when he showed up on scene! LMAO!!

I love me some Mavericks. I had a 1972 Grabber with the 302 v8
Had a 1970 with an inline 250 six cylinder and a 72 grabber hood, and las t but certainly the best a 1970 that was originally a six cylinder and was converted to 5 lug and had a Boss 302 in it. Best damn cars I ever owned. Wish I still owned them

DaMadman.. I had a 1970 Mav with the 250I6.. was a piece of well you know what. Then I got a 1973 Comet with the 302V8. I drove that won till I broke a valve. Had the GT package except for the hood.

Geez. to have cars like they used to be, what a dream.
I changed the spark plugs on the wife's Hyundai Sonata last weekend and that was a pain. I had to take the upper intake off, and after I put everything back together it is skipping and the "Check Engine" light is on. Do I ever hate that car. While the plugs on my Taurus aren't too easy to change, I can do them in a little over an hour and I have never had a problem after changing them. Don't get me started about new cars. I guess I could add this post to the other thread about hating cars.

I "almost" had a gremlin, my dad had bought two used ones that didnt run ot make them into one working car.
luckily i found the vega i ended up getting before he got that frankengremlin going. hehe 72 vega GT ....hmm..vega and GT just somehow i never could figureout how they put those two togeather.

A Vega? Ahhhh...Chevy's answer to the Pinto! Remember the Cosworth Vega? It was a special edition with a few Cosworth parts bolted to the engine block.
Oh, I don't know how I forgot this Pinto story but my sister and brother-in-law had one of those Pintos that would blow up when rear-ended. They lived in a small little central coast town and kept it parked out in the street. They had the recall work performed after the big "to-do" and 2 weeks later in the wee hours off the night some drunk POS came barrelin' around the corner and took it way too wide and plowed into the back of their beloved Pinto at some 30-40 mph. The impact opened the gas tank like a cracked egg and there was gas everywhere but fortunately no ignition source. Totalled the Pinto...game over.
