The most awsome hunt!

And I did not even see a deer. My cousin and I took a 12 year old boy hunting with us lastnight. My cousin stayed with him in a ground blind. about 1 1/2 hours into the hunt, he got a shot on a doe and dropped her where she stood. It was his 1st deer ever.
I think my cousin and I were more excited for him then he was, and he was pretty darn excited. I heard him shoot and waited about 5 min and call my cousin on his cell, and he told me the good news.

Guys if you get a chance to take a young one hunting do it, it is way more rewarding then shooting any deer. To see the joy and excitement is so ...... awsome!

That is a great story Del.

I try to take anybody shooting, hunting, and/or fishing that happens to be interested in it.

I think teaching people about our sports and getting them interested in it helps to promote our sports overall. Plus, I enjoy spending time with people in the field, at the shooting range, or on the water.

Helping somebody get their first bird, deer, fish, or clay target is a great story for me. Sad thing is that I haven't helped that many first timers.

That's pretty cool Delduck, great to hear about youngsters having a good hunt. I guess early gun season is in out there (wow, our bow season started saturday...)?

Our bow season started Sept. 1st.. Last year Delaware Started to allow anterless deer hunting with shotgun on every Sat. of the month of Oct.. I myself would have prefered they leave it just bow, but the state wants to thin the herd down some.

Young people are the future of our sport, no doubt.

I can't hardly wait until my grandson who just turned 4 can go hunting with me. (He can't understand why he isn't going now)
I probably will take him squirrel hunting this year.

Over the years I've taught about ten young ones to shoot and hunt, and dozens the fundamentals of archery. It's very satisfying. Those guys can also grow up to be your hunting buddies.

The first kid I taught is now 30 and loves bird hunting. He still lives close by and we're close enough that I get to use his dogs and I don't have to get my own.
