Thumbs down Guns show today!

Well I had two free tickets to a gun show in Ogden, UT today and I have to tell you, if I would have had to pay the enterance fee of $7.00 I would have had to complain to the show oraganizer. What a disapointment. The prices were out of site and the quality was very poor. I do not know where some of the salesmen come up with these prices for the inferior products they are selling. I'll have to remember that there is a sucker born every minute. The show was sure a waste of time but on a snowy day it was at least interesting to see what people thought they could get for old guns in poor shape.

How much of the hall was occupied with tables? Last time I went, it was only half full. Figured that if they were going to have half a show, they should charge half price for admission. Decided to skip today's show.

I stopped being a vendor at the Ogden show six years ago - and I live in Ogden.

That one's in a downward spiral. Fewer buyers means fewer vendors come (good ones, that is). Fewer good vendors mean fewer buyers come. And so it goes.

Last weekend I went to the Big Reno Show. They have a waiting list for new vendors. It's a product-limited show: you can only display guns, gun-related stuff or individually approved items of "other" like artwork, fishing, etc. No Tee shirts, no jerky, no war surplus, no cell phone or dish network sellers. 900+ tables of gun stuff.

And they had 8,000 people through it on Friday alone.

That's a gun show.

Good gun shows are getting pretty scarce. Here in Miami, they have several a year, all put on by the same folks. Most of the time, the show has a lot of vendors selling non gun related items. There is a fair amount of handgun vendors, selling mostly new Glocks and Taurus guns. The number of vendors selling currio and relic firearms has increased. There are truck loads of Russian bolt guns for sale, and assorted other junk like Carcanos and shot out Enfields.
Ak and AR rifles by the ton. Lots of Ruger rifles. Some ammo, not a lot.
I always go, and I usually buy ammo, cleaning supplies, or reloading components, but frankly, I walk out dissappointed almost every time.
