Hey guys, the Skins made it into the playoffs by a miracle. However, they are so banged up that I don't think they will make it far. Sad thing is that the AFC seems so much stronger than the NFC. I almost feel as though New England is going to win again this year, but the Colts might be a lot harder for them to beat in Indy to get there. It would also be nice for Dungy to win a Super Bowl finally since the Bucs did it the year after he left.
Talking about the Bucs, that will be the first team that the Skins have to play and they played them earlier in the year with a bad ref's call winning the game for the Bucs, even after the instant replay showed that the ref's got the call wrong on the field, it was upheld. Oh well, next week should be fun. By the way, what is a drop kick? I always thought a punt was a drop kick.

fabs a drop kick was first used in football before the holder was used, simply put, the center hikes the ball to the kicker who receives the ball drops the ball to the ground and kicks the ball after the ball bounces off the ground.
degree of difficulty, exponential.

That sounds pretty neat, and I would agree that the degree of difficulty would be extremely hard. However, it does free up a man (i.e., the holder) to either block or go out for a pass. In essence, such a thing could really confuse a defense in today's league.

Another thing on the drop kick: it was used on 'Thee Olden Days' when the ball was fatter and rounder- harder to hold in one hand and throw, but easier to bounce on the ground.
Don't know exactly when the change occured ( 40's? 50's?), but the ball is a bit slimmer in modern times....

I watched the Georgia/West Virginia Nokia Sugar Bowl last night and that was a great game. I cannot believe that West Virginia faked the punt with less than 2 minutes and they made it. Of course, they were using a crazy punt formation that had Georgia spread out all over the field. Great game.
