If you were to just skin, srcape, and stretch a skin it would only last so long before it started to rot, but long enough for the fur buyers to ship it to the tanneries. The reason you can get more for a scraped and strecthed hide than selling it green(just skinned), is because the fur buyer doesn't have to do any work and he can look over the furs better. When you tan something (usually with chemicals) it will last for years. I'm not sure if you can sell tanned fur to local buyers?
A .22 hole is usually pretty small, but make sure it goes in one way and does not come out. Holes in the head usually do not subtract from the price but holes in the back can cut the price drastically. It cost about $18 to subscribe to the "Trapper and Predator Caller Magazine" I would do it if I were you- they give the current prices from all over the US. plus many, many tips and stories. |
