I got up this morning and saw this on Fox News. Hard to believe that things like this happen in small towns like North Pole. I'm can't believe I didn't hear about this earlier. NPMS is right down the road. At least they caught them before anything happened. I got picked on alot in school, but I couldn't imagine it getting to the point where I wanted to take another life.
What really gets me is how these things get to this point. How much does one have to take before they snap and feel they need to kill someone to protect themselves from constant tormenting. Someone HAD to have known these kids were being harassed from the ones they plotted to kill. Are teachers and parents really that stupid that they can't see the children fighting one another? I had to drop out of school my freshmen year of high school because the school system would do nothing about kids harassing me. I was failing all my classes and couldn't focus on my work. I know murdering someone for harassment is a little extreme, but I have to have some sympathy for these guys. No doubt they've been to hell and back. http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,192726,00.html ANCHORAGE, Alaska — Police said a group of seventh-graders hatched an elaborate plan to cut off power and telephone service to their middle school, slay classmates and faculty with guns and knives, then escape from their small Alaska town. The arrest Saturday of six students in North Pole, a town of 1,600 people about 14 miles southeast of Fairbanks, marks the nation's second breakup of an alleged Columbine-style school attack this week. Five Kansas teenagers suspected of planning a shooting rampage at their high school were arrested Thursday, the seventh anniversary of the massacre in suburban Colorado. The Alaskan seventh-graders had been picked on by other students and wanted to seek revenge, Police Chief Paul Lindhag said. They also disliked staff and students, he said. The students had planned to disable North Pole Middle School's power and telephone systems, allotting time to kill their victims and flee from town, Lindhag said. A parent alerted police of rumors of an attack, Lindhag said. He would not elaborate on the case, or what kind of documented evidence led to the arrests. "These are the ones who had major roles in this," Lindhag said. "All our information came through our interviews." The students, who were being held at the Fairbanks Youth Facility, could face charges of first-degree conspiracy to commit murder, authorities said. The North Pole boys, whose names were not released, were among 15 students at the school who were suspended after a parent tipped police Monday evening. A child told the parent that rumors were circulating about the alleged plot, which had been postponed from Monday until Tuesday, Lindhag said. "We feel very thankful that a student felt they could talk to an adult, and very thankful that the adult had the wisdom to contact the North Pole Police Department," said Wayne Gerke, an assistant superintendent with the Fairbanks North Star Borough School District. The suspended students were identified by officers working with a school safety official. Parents were advised to keep their children away from 500-student campus Tuesday. Lindhag said authorities don't believe all the suspended students were involved, but officials erred on the side of caution. "There were a lot of rumors flying around," Lindhag said. Locals are "shocked, saddened and heartbroken about whole situation," but area schools have policies to deal with such a crisis, Gerke said. The other students remain suspended while the investigation continues, and police will have a presence at the school for the rest of the year, officials said. In Riverton, Kan., school officials learned that a threatening message had been posted on the Internet, authorities said. The boys, ages 16 to 18, will stay in custody through the weekend while prosecutors decide whether to file charges, a judge ruled Saturday.

wahnie, I am not a pro brain picker but as one of the people in charge of the local sportsmens club..(@600 members), we have to police the members all the time..most of the time it is just due to lack of reading the rule book...but some long time members just defy it and get caught now and then..where I am going here is one Jr. member has just turned 13..he is an adopted son and in most cases a nice kid...but he has been breaking the rules all last yr and even this year..so I had a talk with him..alone..no parents..politely warned him..I figured he is old enough to know right from wrong..what he did was tell his mom nobody likes him there..cry..they spoil this kid to the max even ride him to another fishing spot along the lake because he don't want to walk..is overweight too...but his mom visited my camper just yesterday and it seems someone told the parents of his wrong doing...she was upset because he had his '' feelings'' hurt..but he is a spoiled brat..I have to think this way of thinking now days is where the problem lies..esp when it involves so many students at one time like in your area..the good ole spank the butt when 'need' it is gone..they have no respect for anyone of any age and have a bad attitude toward everything..but when it comes back to the parents or people in charge of events like baseball, they can't even play the game all innings if one team is loosing by too much because it will .''hurt their feelings''..so they just don't get the chance to 'toughen up' some..and I think this makes it easy to cross the line in some real tough situations..they can mother f*** the teachers in front of the class but the teacher can't say a thing about it..or get fired..is spanked in front of the class like the old days for doing such a thing, he would loose face to the classmates and not be such a bad butt..these kids can dish out the pain, hastles but can't take it..I think it will all change once this generation gets in charge of things just like ours did once the 'hippies' 'yuppies' took over..I see it every day in front of my house with the kids..language, destruction, lack of respect, etc and at ages when I was learning to ride a bike..I will have to continue on another post because of space here.

ok..page 2..one boy a few houses up the street was a problem a while ago..his mom teaches school and he even dropped out...dad don't live there..while she was gone, out came the beer and his buddies..they would toss the bottles x the street and smash the glass..along with other things they did..enough was enough and I confronted him one day and while he was running down the street hollering back he was going to kick my a^^, I mentioned the fact he would have to stop first..so when mommy came home, I heard him say ..mommy, he is picking on me..all she said was ..I told you it would come to that..so he is a big man to his buddies but when it comes right down to it and they aren't around, he gets his feelings hurt..not really but plays the game.
The police tell these kids if parents spank to tell and parents get arrested..(my brothers family)...school tells brother kids need to get to school or he fined..police tell him he can't make them do anything..get fined..they are drunken druggies now and no jobs, drop out of school, in trouble all the time and in their 20's..breading like a bunch of rats too..just what we need..more of them.. so my opinion to what you asked..what makes them so bad?..society...went down the wrong road a few years ago and it just keeps getting worse..if we don't put the foot down when they are young it will never change..the child abuse laws werent intended to be taken this way..they need to rewrite the book. somewhere it seems our government intends to raise our kids the way they want..kind of like another brick in the wall thing and is another reason both parents need to work nowdays to make ends meet...no supervision..school forms the kids their way..for what is up an comming in the future...if their is gong to be one. SISSIES JOIN GANGS.....BE A MAN.....JOIN THE MILITARY
