derringer?

Anybody know if a derringer is legal under the CHL laws? Particularly in Texas but anywhere in general?

GOB,

In PA, a CCW licenses the act of carrying a revolver, auto pistol or derringer, your choice.

Same in NY as in PA.
Derringer would be considered no different than a 1911, S&W model 60, etc.

In Texas you are licensed to carry a revolver or any gun (not restricted to revolver). I believe that if you are licensed to only carry a revolver you may carry a O/U derringer because it is not an Auto.

derringer okay in Texas

Whether you are licensed to carry a semi-auto or not a derringer is okay in Texas. As one of the "never leave home without it" types, I often carry my stainless steel Amercian Derringer double action in 38 Special because it can be completely concealed in the back pocket of my jeans. A hanky in the same pocket prevents any chance of "profiling" the little gun. Although I prefer a bit more when I can manage, the derringer allows security and concealability when other guns just won't do.
